Morristown Colonials Rugby kicks off this summer! The game we play is called American Flag Rugby, a coed, non-contact form of rugby using flags. Players build and utilize the skills of running, kicking, passing, space strategy, and teamwork. It game for all shapes and sizes and is firmly focused on developing self-confidence and having fun.
American Flag Rugby introduces young players to the game with an emphasis on enjoyment and sportsmanship, rather than competitiveness. Children play in 4 age groups, each bringing in more aspects of the game as the players progress. The program is intended for children entering first through ninth grade.
The Owls: For Children Entering Grades K - 1
The Falcons: For Children Entering Grades 2 - 3
The Hawks: For Children Entering Grades 4 - 6
The Eagles: For Children Entering Grades 7 - 9
We know its summer, so we keep things low key. It is a low pressure environment where kids are expected to come and go as family vacation schedules require. All players get to play in the
matches, whether or not they have been able to attend practices. Of course, no experience is necessary. Practices are on Monday and Wednesday evening from 6 til 7:15 pm. Matches are 9 to 12 Saturday mornings. For parental/logistical convenience, all age groups practice and have matches at the same time, same place.
So come out and join the more than 800 other young players from 8 other Morris County towns who will take the field this summer!
